  • Membership requirements: Students must meet certain academic requirements.  Juniors and Seniors only

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Faculty Sponsors: Tammy Schooley

  • Objective of Organization: To develop relationships that will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Chris and His Word through integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence.
  • Typically meets…..Every Thursday morning, 7:30 in Mrs. Schooley's room
  • Membership requirements: Students join by attending morning meetings.  Applications are needed for leadership positions.  Students willing to uphold the purpose and objectives of FCA.
  • Expected Cost to Student: None
  • Typical Fundraisers: None
  • Special Recognitions: Option to speak at Baccalaureate as a senior.
  • Events:  SYATP –September  

FFA (Future Farmers of America)

Faculty Sponsor:  Jason Salter

  • Objective of Organization: Develop students potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success
  • Typically meets….. in Mr. Salter's room #806
  • Membership requirements: Must be enrolled in an Agriculture Education class
  • Expected Cost to Student: $20 per year
  • Typical Fundraisers: Fall fruit sale, meat sticks, and shop projects
  • Special Recognition: Students are able to earn Chapter, State, and National FFA degrees.

Foreign Language Club

Faculty Sponsor: Antonio Diaz

  • Objective of Organization: To promote awareness of the importance of foreign languages in order to understand diversity.
  • Typically meets…..Once per month in Mr. Diaz’s room
  • Membership requirements: Students must pay the fee, attend meetings, and either be enrolled or have been enrolled in at least one foreign language class.

GLEE Club

  • Objective of Organization: promote performing arts
  • Typically meets…..as directed

National Art Honor Society

Faculty Sponsor: Michael Rhinehardt

  • Objectives of Organization: To support national objectives for creating and supporting ART. To give students extra-curricular opportunities to create their own art.  To support the art community in the county with participation and assistance in art shows.
  • Typically meets…..NAHS meets Thursdays from 3:00-5:00. Students attend as they are able with a minimum attendance of 10 meetings.
  • Membership requirements: Open to sophomores or higher who have taken art. They must have at least a 90 in art, a 2.65 GPA and be in good standing with the art department. They must attend at least 10 meetings, do at least 1 service project and pay $15 dues each year.
  • Expected Cost to Student: $15 per year for National and local dues as well as supplies.
  • Typical Fundraisers: Selling individual art pieces and face painting.
  • Special Recognitions: Multi-colored cords at graduation (one strand of cord per year) Listed on a nationally recognized organization. Ability to add to resume.
  • Events:  Scholastic Art Show;  Carteret County Student Art Exhibit; Empty Bowls ($900.00 raised by East Carteret in 2012), Bark for Art Fundraiser for animal shelters, various other art displays.

NTHS (Nationals Technical Honor Society)

Faculty Sponsor: Pamela Roberson

  • Objective of Organization: Honor and Service
  • Typically meets…..as needed

  • Membership requirements: CTE Course requirements
  • Special Recognitions: Purple & White Graduation cord

Speech & Debate/NFL (National Forensic League)

Faculty Sponsor: Harrison Smith

  • Objective of Organization:  Leadership Skill empowerment
  • Typically meets…..Wednesdays after school
  • Membership requirements: Favorable acceptance by simple majority.  Good student record, upper 2/3 of class, good competitive drive, principal’s approval
  • Expected Cost to Student: $20 annual dues and travel expenses
  • Typical Fundraisers: Candy, Donations
  • Special Recognition: NFL vestment, honor cords, diploma seals, trophies, NFL All-American eligibility
  • Competitions – One or two per month
