Opportunity for Rising Juniors

North Carolina School of Science of Mathematics: Criteria used to select students for admission are as follows:

  • Leadership positions.
  • Above average grades in freshman an sophomore classes.
  • Enrollment in accelerated and challenging courses.
  • Teacher and Counselor evaluations.
  • Test results from SAT ( must be taken Oct., Nov., Dec., or Jan. of the students sophomore year).
  • A NCSSM math test.

Deadline for application is January 15.  There are no exceptions.

There are many advantages to becoming a volunteer:

10 Steps to Better Grades

1.  Avoid procrastination. Do assignments in a timely manner.

2.  Work on the most difficult assignment first.

3.  Choose a place to study that will give you uninterrupted time.

4. Cut off  your social media when studying:  facebook, cellphones, etc...

5.  Take notes in class and review them as you study.

6.  ASK, ASK, ASK.  If you are having difficutly understanding ask for help

7.  Study a little everyday to avoid having to "cram" for a test.

8.  Set reaslitic goals.

9.  Try to develop an interest in what you are studying.

10.  JUST DO IT!
