Nursing Guarantee Option at UMR!

The University of Minnesota Rochester offers a Freshman Nursing Guarantee option for students interested in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree through the University of Minnesota.  This opportunity guarantees first year students entry into the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ nursing program located on the Rochester campus their sophomore year provided they meet the program requirements.*  Students will be able to complete all four years of the program on the University of Minnesota Rochester’s campus.  Practicum work in this program will be conducted at Mayo Clinic. Students interested in this must apply directly to UMR. No Share My App’s accepted for UMR’s Freshman Nursing Guarantee option.

*A GPA of 3.0 must be maintained through their first year at UMR, in both semesters.

Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Discovery Lab

The Respiratory Therapy Discovery Lab provides an opportunity for high school and college students to participate in hands-on simulated events to learn how respiratory therapists work with an interdisciplinary health care team to deliver patient care. Using the latest innovative technology, students will experience firsthand the opportunities, rewards and challenges of a career as a respiratory therapist.

Choose one session:
Thursday: October 19, 2017 - 12 to 5 pm
Friday: October 20, 2017 - 8 am to 1 pm

The one-day lab takes place at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Encourage students to join us for an exciting day of discovery and learn about the unmasked heroes who are frequently mistaken for doctors or nurses.

The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) recently published an article in the latest education issue of Guy Harvey Magazine (Volume 7, Issue 25, Fall 2016).
The article includes advice on how high school students can chart their own course towards a marine science career.  It also highlights opportunities available to high school students to immerse themselves in marine science education, research and conservation, as well as universities with undergraduate programs in ocean science. We encourage students, teachers and families to read through the article and share it with anyone who has an interest in the marine sciences.
