Dress Code

Dress Code 2016-2017 (1/25/17)

 

Dress Code:

School is a place of business for students and staff.  Students at ECHS should take pride in their personal appearance.  They should come to school appropriately dressed. 

Please consider this list of Appropriate Attire for School:

·         Jeans, khakis, capris, long pants

·         Crew neck shirts, collared shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets

·         Appropriate length shorts and Bermuda shorts

  • Skirts and dresses must be no higher than 3" above the knee in the front and the back.  Shorts must be no shorter than the tips of the fingers when the arms are straight down your side.

·         Clothing must cover all under garments (bra straps, boxers, underwear, etc)

·         Leggings must be worn with an appropriate length tunic, skirt, or shorts

  • Tights/leggings cannot be worn as pants.  Dresses or tunics worn over leggings must be at least fingertip length

·         A-line tank tops are acceptable with at least a 3” width  

Inappropriate Attire is defined as clothing that:

·         Is substantially disruptive

·         Is provocative or obscene

·         Endangers the health or safety of the student or others

Inappropriate Attire for School includes but is not limited to:

·         Exposed undergarments, pants below hips

·         Exposed undergarments with tank tops/shirts

·         No colored/printed undergarments under white/pale colored shirts

·         No racer back tank tops/dresses

·         Tops having necklines that are lower than a straight line from the top of one underarm across to the opposite underarm

·         Bare midriffs, tops that reveal cleavage; low-cut tops, tube tops, halter tops (even with a shrug)

o   Remember the 4 B’s (no boobs, no back, no belly, no butt)

·         Strapless, single strap, spaghetti strap on shirts or dresses

·         Bathing suits

·         Biker shorts

·         Bare feet, bedroom slippers

·         Pajamas/sleepwear

·         Short shorts  (must be longer than the longest fingertip when arms are extended completely down their sides)

·         miniskirts/mini dresses  (no shorter than 3” above the knee)

·         ABSOLUTELY NO SPANDEX SKIRTS OF ANY KIND

·         Head attire such as sunglasses, hats, toboggans, bandanas and hoods of jackets.

·         chains

·         logos, words, symbols, gestures that imply the following:

o   gang allegiance

o   sexual connotation

o   alcohol, drugs, tobacco

o   profanity, obscenity

o   disrespect (anything that may interpreted as offensive or likely to cause a disruption within the school environment)

 

Physical Education Classes: ECHS policy is that all students will wear an approved PE uniform.  Students must purchase the uniform for $20.  Students who do not wear the appropriate PE uniform will be sent to AEC.  Since they are not in PE class, the period will count as an unexcused absence.  Repeated PE dress code violations will be considered insubordination.

 

Discipline Consequences:  Clothing or an accessory that violates a reasonable dress code adopted and publicized by the school; is substantially disruptive; is provocative or obscene; or endangers the health or safety of the student or others (Policy 4315; Policy 4316)

1st offense: warning and change attire documented on referral; this will count as an unexcused absence

2nd offense: 1 day of ISS and change of attire, documented on referral

3rd offense: 1 day OSS
4th Offense: 2 day OSS and parent conference
